Find your inbox

Notch Now lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. Click its menu bar icon and choose Open Inbox. On a display without a notch, the tray opens at the top centre.

The default shortcut is ⌃⌥Space. If another app uses it, open Settings from the menu bar and record a different shortcut.

Save something for later

Drop a regular file, image, link or selected text into the open tray. You can also choose Add Files or Save Clipboard from the menu bar, or press ⌘V while the tray is open. Clipboard content is read only when you choose to save or paste.

Click an item’s icon, or select it and press Space, to preview it with macOS Quick Look. Click its name to open it. Add a note afterwards with N, and filter with ⌘F.

Understand saved files

Stable files are linked to their originals. The App Store edition keeps a read-only macOS bookmark so it can open the selected file again. Files from temporary or removable locations are copied. Settings → Storage also lets you choose Always save a copy.

A linked original that has been deleted or moved to the Trash stays in the inbox with a warning. Restore the original or add the file again. Notch Now never moves, changes or deletes your originals.

Done, Later and Undo

Done moves an item into the Done section, where you can restore it. Done items remain recoverable until you confirm Empty Done Items in Settings → Storage. Delete offers a brief Undo window. ⌘Z restores the last Done or Delete.

Remind me later moves an item into Later until its reminder is due. Notification banners are optional: declining permission still lets the item return to the inbox. Open at login and the inbox lock are also optional.

Your data

Your inbox stays on your Mac. The optional lock hides it on screen; it does not separately encrypt files on disk. Read the Privacy Policy for local storage, retention and support email details.
